Malcolm Jenkins to Champion BLACK BOYS as Executive Producer of Social Justice Film

Los Angeles, CA (January 24, 2019) - He is a Two-time Super Bowl Champion, Founder and Chairman of The Malcolm Jenkins Foundation, owner of the men’s fashion line Damari Savile, co-founder of the Players Coalition, and now Executive Producer on the upcoming social justice film by Director Sonia Lowman, called BLACK BOYS.“Malcolm Jenkins is the epitome of what you’d want in an Executive Producer as he believes in the content of the film while also being a relentless social justice advocate,” says Sonia Lowman, Director of BLACK BOYS and co-founder of LA film company, Never Whisper Justice. “This is a story about belonging, love, struggle, justice, and transformation. We need to hear the voices of black boys and black men about their journey while illuminating their humanity.”As a first-time Executive Producer, Malcolm Jenkins has embraced the role of providing insight, feedback, and guidance, all while performing his full-time job as a Pro Bowl safety for the Philadelphia Eagles.“Sonia first reached out to us back in June about me doing an interview for the film,” says Jenkins. “I did my research and realized her last film (Teach Us All) was acquired by Ava DuVernay and considered a companion piece to 13th, which I thought was very impactful. To me, BLACK BOYS takes the next step, which provides an in depth approach to issues facing black boys and young black men in America today. This is critical work and I just felt like it was a perfect fit for me as an Executive Producer, especially with the focus on social justice and social impact.”Now in the final editing stages, BLACK BOYS will officially launch a social impact campaign during Super Bowl week in Atlanta with a panel at Morehouse College, “BLACK BOYS - Brain Health and Belonging.” As part of the Never Whisper Justice production model, each feature length film is accompanied by action steps for social change, something Malcolm Jenkins embraces through his foundation and the many activities in multiple communities with the Players Coalition.“Partnering with Malcolm not only made sense from a film production side, but more importantly, because of his social justice and racial equality work through the Players Coalition.” says Sonia. “Whether it’s criminal justice reform or police and community relations, Malcolm is putting in the work while catalyzing fellow players to join him with collective purpose.
